What we collect

shell.trainer requires no account and collects no personal information directly. Everything you type in the terminal simulator runs locally in your browser and is never sent to any server.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising and sets no advertising cookies. If that changes, this policy will be updated before any ads appear, and visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK will be shown a consent banner beforehand, as required by law.

When advertising is introduced it will be served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners may then use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites. You will be able to opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings, and you can read how Google uses data from partner sites.

Analytics

We do not currently use any analytics or tracking service. No visit statistics are collected, and no third-party analytics scripts run on this site. If privacy-respecting analytics are added later, they will measure only aggregate traffic — pages visited, country, referring site — with no personally identifying information, and this section will be updated to name the tool used.

Consent (EEA/UK visitors)

Because no advertising or analytics cookies are currently set, no consent banner is shown. Should advertising be introduced, a Google-certified consent management platform will be in place before the first ad is served, so that visitors in the European Economic Area and the UK can accept or reject advertising cookies before any are stored.

What stays in your browser

The terminal simulator, the interactive course and your lesson progress run entirely on your device. Commands you type are never transmitted anywhere, and your progress is stored in your browser's local storage — not on any server and not tied to any account. Clearing your browser data, or pressing the reset button in the course, removes it completely.

Data we never collect

No accounts, no passwords, no names, no email addresses unless you write to us voluntarily. There is nothing to sign up for, so there is no user database to leak.

Third parties

Advertising is served by Google; the ebook is sold through a third-party store which handles payment and invoicing under its own privacy policy — we never see your card details. Any external links are marked as such and are governed by their own terms.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data held about you. Since we hold none by default, such requests will normally concern email correspondence only. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
